Digital Marketing and everything that is involved within it can be a lot. I love what I do, but it can take a toll. For me, sitting down with a badass video game is the perfect way to unwind and recollect myself. It's so easy to become devoured by a good story that is meshed with fun gameplay; escaping the world for a little bit is an absolute must for me. I've always been a fan of the horror genre. That's no surprise. Horror video games have always had a special place in my heart, and if they were good enough, a special scar they left in my psyche. I'm looking at you, Dead Space 2 eyeball injection. It seems that horror games are more popular than ever now due to the traction of social media, and that is badass, they absolutely deserve all the attention they're receiving. Especially the big franchises like Silent Hill, Resident Evil, & Fatal Frame. One that always seems to fly under the radar is Siren Blood Curse. That game was solid, and actually, I never beat it. There are so many good games, not just horror, out there right now, but today, we focus on Crisol: Theater of Idols.

I'm located in Hurst, inbetween Dallas and Fort Worth. There is a plethora of things to do all over at any given time, so for a video game to keep my focus and make me want to stay in, it has to be very damn good. That is 100% the case with Crisol: Theater of Idols.
I went in not expecting much because I got this game based on the incredible cover art. If it blew ass, that was on me for judging a book by it's cover. I got this a couple of weeks before Resident Evil 9 came out as well, so I just needed something to hold me over. It seemed like a win-win, and at $20, it was an absolute steal.
Intro game credits/production companies start rolling, and wouldn't you know, Blumhouse actually had a hand in creating this game. I thought that was awesome, even though we all know Blumhouse has had some flops, it still excited me. Crisol wastes no time getting to it, and you're off to the races almost immediately.

Next time I'm doing my own screen shots, fuck citations.
Crisol plays a lot like a FP Resident Evil. Does it have the incredible RE Engine graphics? No. But it does have the yellow tape on objects you need to pay attention to, and I can appreciate that. I don't want to spoil anything, but the premise of the game is based on some Spanish lore, and you're involved in a battle between The Sun God and The Sea. Normal bullets don't kill the enemies in your way, so The Sun grants you the power of turning normal guns into badass monster-slaying guns that use your blood as their ammunition.
You read that right, it uses your in-game health as ammunition.
Now, as stressful as that sounds, I never found myself in a crunchy pickle depleted of health and ammo; they're pretty forgiving and give you a lot of opportunity to have both. Just don't suck and you'll be Grandiose.

There are plenty of puzzles, stalker enemy moments, shoot outs, and explorable areas to leave you thinking "holy shit, this might be the best Resident Evil rip-off I have ever played. Granted, this is a completely original story, and it is an awesome game. However, there are a lot of similarities between RE and Crisol, and you know the developers burrowed quite a bit. If I were RE, I would take it as a compliment.
Run time for Crisol: Theater of Idols is around 8 - 12 hours, depending on whether you're a completionist. I had an absolute blast with this one; it's a very solid 8 out of 10. I'm convienced you wont find a better horror game for $20. Go give it a try and let me know I'm right!
,Side note, I played it on the PS5 and it ran smooth as butter.
